Getting Involved
Being a VHCC student is about more than just going to class. Virginia Highlands offers a wide variety of clubs and organizations to meet every interest. The best part? If we don’t offer a club that you’re interested in, it’s easy to start a new one! Make friends, build your resume, and have fun by getting involved!
If you love to fish, check out the Bass Club! VHCC students develop their angling skills, participate in local bass fishing tournaments, and develop a camaraderie through their love of fishing! The club meets monthly.
The VHCC College Democrats is an organization dedicated to heightening political awareness on the VHCC campus and in the surrounding community. The Democratic Club strives to develop strong leadership abilities and skills as preparation for future service to the political process and to the United States of America.
This group sponsors and runs debates, brings politicians and other speakers to campus, participates in philanthropy and community service projects, and more.

The Gaming Club is a positive environment to interact with fellow students and play video games and card games. Club members seek to promote problem-solving skills, hand-eye coordination, along with communication. Regular gaming tournaments are part of the fun!
Do you love being outdoors? Are you interested in going on local hiking and climbing trips? The Highlands Adventure Club unites outdoor enthusiasts and plans college-sponsored outdoor excursions. Get outdoors and explore!

The Student Government Association serves as a vital link between the student body and VHCC administration. The SGA has spearheaded several campus initiatives, such as the Disc Golf course, student discounts, and more! Make your voice heard by joining!

If you have served or currently serve in the armed forces, the Veterans Association is a place for you to connect with fellow veterans in a way that promotes camaraderie. The association also provides support for student veterans and their families as they pursue their post military career through education.
Whether you are a novice or a skilled player, the Disc Golf club is a great way to learn more about the sport! Disc Golf club members host at least two tournaments per semester, in addition to playing in other regional tournaments. A course located on VHCC’s beautiful campus makes practice easy!
VHCC Nursing students are invited to participate in the Nursing Club! This club promotes and encourages participation in community affairs and activities towards improved health care and the resolution of related social issues.
